Detox From Alcohol – Alcohol Detox Treatment

Detox From Alcohol – Alcohol Detox Treatment

Before a person can begin to treat the psychological aspect of their addiction, they must undergo the detoxification process. Detox is the physical removal of alcohol (or any addictive substance) from the body. The purpose of detox is to eliminate the body’s physical dependency before the patient proceeds on to the counseling portion of alcohol treatment. Detox From Alcohol - Without treating the physical dependency, the body continues to crave alcohol, making the remaining stages of treatment extremely difficult if not impossible.  Detox centers provide patients with medical and therapeutic support while they go through detox and experience withdrawal.

Detox From Alcohol - What Happens During Alcohol Detox Treatment?

When a person consumes a significant amount of alcohol day after day for weeks, months or even years at a time, the body develops a biochemical dependency on the alcohol. That is to say, the body learns to function metabolically in the presence of excessive amounts of alcohol. The longer a person has been addicted, the stronger the biochemical dependency.  Once the patients stop consuming alcohol, they are likely to experience some or all of the following withdrawal symptoms.

  • Detox From Alcohol - Restlessness
  • Detox From Alcohol - Insomnia
  • Detox From Alcohol - Depression
  • Detox From Alcohol - Anxiety
  • Detox From Alcohol - Mood swings
  • Detox From Alcohol - Intense alcohol cravings
  • Detox From Alcohol - Headaches
  • Detox From Alcohol - Nausea
  • Detox From Alcohol - Heart palpitations
  • Detox From Alcohol - Shaking

Withdrawal is a physically demanding process and addicts who try and stop using on their own often find they are tempted to drink when they experience these symptoms. More severe withdrawal symptoms include delirium, convulsions and blackouts.

Some detox programs offer a medical detox option, whereby patients take medications to supplement the presence of alcohol in their system. They are gradually weaned off the medication as detox goes on. The purpose of a medical detox is to minimize or even eliminate withdrawal symptoms. All patients who undergo detox, no matter what type of alcohol program, should receive constant medical support and full access to counselors throughout the process to help make their treatment a success.

Detox From Alcohol - How Long Does Alcohol Detox Treatment Take to Complete?

Detox treatment can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to over a month to complete. In some patients with multiple addictions, it can last even longer than that. After patients are evaluated by the rehab facility’s staff and determined to have successfully completed detox, they can move on to the counseling and rehabilitation phase of treatment. Addicts who move on to counseling before their physical addiction is treated are more likely to relapse at some point during treatment. Are you looking for a detox program for you or your loved one?  Please call our toll-free number and discuss your options with one of our trained counselors.

  • When mild to moderate symptoms from alcohol withdrawal are expected, it is possible that the patient might opt for outpatient detox because it is more affordable. There are specific patients that should not choose outpatient detox in any situation. Those patients would include those that have a history of severe withdrawal symptoms, withdrawal seizures, delirium tremors, many prior attempts at detox, psychiatric or medical illness, elevated levels of alcohol use and pregnancy. Detox From Alcohol – 8 Things to Know About Alcohol Detox

Detox From Alcohol – 8 Things to Know About Alcohol Detox

Detoxification from alcohol, also known as alcohol detox, is a crucial part of the addiction recovery process. Alcoholics who are dedicated to changing their lives for the better must begin their journey with detox from alcohol.

8 Things to Know About Alcohol Detox :

  1. Detox From Alcohol - Alcohol detox is NOT rehab!
Beware treatment programs that claim detox from alcohol  is the equivalent to recovery. Detox is a crucial component of recovery from addiction, but in order to complete the process, an individual must engage in counseling and aftercare as well.
  2. Detox From Alcohol – Alcohol detox does not take very long to complete.
For many individuals, detox from alcohol can take as little as a week to complete, although that time period may vary according to the individual and the seriousness of his or her addiction.
  3. Detox From Alcohol - Alcohol detox must be completed before rehab can begin.

repoffline Detox From Alcohol 8 Things to Know About Alcohol Detox
In order to take part in a successful alcohol rehab program, an individual must first go through detox. As long as the harmful toxins associated with alcohol are present in the bloodstream, the chance of relapse is too high to pish forward with rehab.
  4. Detox From Alcohol - Alcohol detox is available as part of most rehab programs.
Most residential and outpatient alcohol rehab programs now offer detox onsite as part of the treatment process. There are, however, some programs that require the individual to take part in detox offsite before entering into rehab at the facility.
  5. Detox From Alcohol - Alcohol detox can bring about withdrawal symptoms.
During detox from alcohol, the body undergoes considerable stress. This includes experiencing withdrawal symptoms such as depression, anxiety, sweats, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts and other problems that occur as the brain adjusts to life without alcohol.
  6. Detox From Alcohol - Alcohol detox should always be performed in the presence of a medical professional.
Although the withdrawal symptoms associated with detox from alcohol are rarely life threatening, it is always recommended that the process take place under the care and supervision of a medical professional. Doctors and detox experts can help the individual cope with withdrawal symptoms and maintain good health during the procedure.

  7. Detox From Alcohol - Alcohol detox does not always “take” on the first try.
Like rehab, not every individual gets through detox on the first try. The process can be difficult, and the risk of relapse is high during this period. Individuals who stick with it though are rewarded when they are finally able to complete detox and move on to the life-changing experience of alcohol rehab.
  8. Detox From Alcohol - Alcohol detox is an accomplishment.
Sometimes the journey to recovery can seem endless. But completing the detox from alcohol process is an accomplishment in and of itself – and one that should be applauded.

It’S Official: The Truth About Valentines Day

Second only to Christmas, in card sending, is the lovers’ celebration on February 14th, known as Valentine’s Day. There are around one billion valentine cards sent annually, worldwide. Men will spend more than double on this celebration, compared to women. Jewelry, dining out, cards, chocolates and flowers being the central thrust for Valentine gifts

What does that say about men? Is it they are more romantic, or is the valentine card a guilt trip, of some past, or future transgression?

South Koreans Singaporeans and Chinese men spend more on Valentine’s Day, than any other nationality. In India there are fierce clashes between shop owners who sell Valentine related items and Shiv Sena die-hards, especially in Mumbai. Those found violating the ruling not to take part in the Valentine’s Day celebrations, are brutally beaten by baton-weilding brigands of Shiv Sens, a far right wing political party, who make it their task to hang out in public places, such as parks. They chase after any young people holding hands, or other suspected lovers. However, it is widely socially acceptable, for young Indian men to be seen publically holding hands.

In Saudi Arabia the black market for roses and wrapping paper has flourished, owing to the fact that the religious police declare Valentine’s Day as un-Islamic.

Folklore says St Valentine was a priest, who wouldn’t accept a law, credited to the Roman Emperor, Claudius II. This law allegedly ordered that all young men remain unmarried. The Emperor wanted to make improvements to his army and thought that married men did not make the best soldier material. Valentine, however, continued to secretly marry the young men to the lady of their choice. When the emperor discovered this he had Valentine arrested and flung in prison. On the evening before Valentine was to be executed, he penned the first Valentine message, addressing it to a young girl identified as his beloved. Tradition says it was the jailer’s daughter whom Valentine had healed and made friends with. The Valentine note simply said, "From your beloved Valentine".

Valentine’s Day – Should We Confine Love to One Day?

Love is in air, romance is ruling everyone’s mind and the markets are flooded with chocolates, cute stuffed toys, mushy greetings cards and other goodies with lovey-dovey messages. Yes, it’s the day of lovers and friends, the day to express your love and affection to someone very special and to celebrate and spend time with someone who means the world to you – your beloved, your valentine!

Valentine’s Day is here along with the season for cards, roses and chocolates. But sad is the fact that not many of us know its true importance and the reasons for the widespread celebration of this day. Today, it is just another excuse to celebrate, to exchange gifts and for the card and chocolate companies to make some quick money.

Youngsters view the day as the reason to go out on some extra-special dates, to propose to their crushes and to make some new girlfriends or boyfriends. But the very beauty and importance of the day has been lost in this commercialisation.

Valentine’s Day has been connected to various stories. Legend links the day to a Roman priest, Valentine. It is believed that Emperor Claudius II forbade young men to marry as he felt that unwed men made stronger soldiers. Valentine disobeyed the emperor’s orders and solemnised the marriage of the young couples. He was apprehended and the emperor condemned him to death. St Valentine suffered martyrdom on 14 February 270 AD and, ever since, Valentine’s Day has been celebrated on 14 February.

Today, the meaning of the day might be confined to expressing love to your boyfriends or girlfriends but the day is made for you to express your feeling and warmth to all those for whom you care, anyone can be your valentine – a friend, a soul mate, your parents, your siblings or just about anyone who occupies an important place in your life. It is the day for sweethearts – be it your lover, fiancee, wife, husband, brother, sister or anyone with whom you share a special bond.

Different people feel differently about the hype that surrounds Valentine’s Day. Some wonder why the expression of a special emotion should be confined to one single day. Love is like magic and the day it comes into your life, that day becomes even more special than Valentine’s Day. There is not something that you can plan.

On the contrary, for a few, it is about keeping one day apart for the whole of society to come together to make their loved ones feel special and worthy. Valentine’s Day celebrates all shades and spheres of love. It is the celebration of love of all kinds. Even if you are not in a relationship, you can celebrate the day with equal zest.

No matter what your age is or to what part of the world you belong to, if you value love, togetherness and heart-felt emotions, it is the day for you to celebrate. Besides the gifts, cards and lovely red roses, it is the day to lock some wonderful memories forever into your heart. It is about celebrating a special bond and to appreciate someone in a very unique and exclusive manner.

And just remember, feelings are beyond the fragrance of the flowers and the mesmerising words on a card. Someone’s wallet does not measure the love he or she has for you.

Everyone has a different perception of the importance of Valentine’s Day. If you truly love a person then the whole year is as special as Valentine’s Day, say some people. But there are others who wait the whole year to say those three golden words to someone, “I love you.”

NO PLANNING FOR LOVE

For Laura, every moment that she spends with her loved one is special. She does not need a special day to express her love and gratitude to someone whom she holds too close to her heart, although she feels that Valentine’s Day gives one another excuse to party or have a nice dinner with family and friends. You take time out from your hectic work schedule to spend some valuable moments with your loved ones. But that is where her definition of Valentine’s Day ends.

Aryan has a similar opinion. According to him, love cannot be planned. It can happen any time, on any day, at any moment.
He does not think that it would become more special or everlasting if you express it on Valentine’s Day. You might take the day as an opportunity to reassure someone of your love for him or her. It is just like any other day when you tell your sweetie how much he or she means to you.

For Jim and Stephanie, Valentine’s Day has double importance. It is the day when the two of them got married 15 years ago. At that time, they were not even aware of such a day, so it is not very special one for the two of them.

There are some who believe in spreading love every day while, for others, Valentine’s Day is as special and important as the other festivals we all celebrate. Some find stuffed toys that say, “I Love You” or “You are special” really cute while, for others, they are the most stupid things to gift someone. The perception of Valentine’s Day is different for every individual. Valentine’s Day is a day solely devoted to love, warmth, affection and togetherness. It is the day to raise a special toast to a relationship that means the world to you.

But, in recent times, it has just become another way for people to make money. It is kind of hurting to see the day and a beautiful emotion being measured and judged in terms of material presents. Probably this is the order of the day, as we see that even other festivals have become all about exchanging expensive gifts.

True love does not need a bouquet of a hundred roses or a sparkling diamond. It is more about the depth of your love for someone.

And for those friends, who do not have a valentine, don’t pull a long face. You can indeed have loads of fun even if there is no one special in your life to whom you can dedicate this day.

CELEBRATION TIME

Just go out for a party with all your single buddies and eat, drink, dance and make merry. No one says that you can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day if you don’t have a date. And you never know, you may arrive back home with the one you were looking for.

So go out and explore. Plan a get-together of all your old buddies. Spend the day watching a movie and just hanging out with friends. And if you are feeling bad about the fact no one is there to shower gifts on you, just gift yourself. Buy some cool stuff for yourself.

Decorate your room with flowers, candles and pictures of the most memorable moments of your life. And if you are good with words, just go ahead and write something special to make the occasion special.

Just make yourself feel exclusive. Celebrate the day by pampering yourself and making your surroundings pleasant and beautiful.

Valentine’s Day is not about confining love to one day or measuring the depth of someone’s love and affection in material terms. It is just about devoting a day solely to all your loved ones.

It is like giving everyone a common platform to celebrate the happiness of being with someone, dedicating 24 hours to spread, express and celebrate love and the emotion that has the power to overshadow all realms of life.

Don’t be a Loser, Locate Him Great Gifts for Valentines Day

Love is a fickle game where there are just as many losers as there are winners. When it comes to affairs of the heart, nothing is ever certain or guaranteed. Even when things are seemingly going well, we can find ourselves spurned by the one we love and rejected without fully understanding why. And while we cannot ever fully protect ourselves from the demise of a relationship, we can minimise the chances of becoming a relationship loser by building up an arsenal of great Valentines Day Gifts all ready for the big day.

The type of Valentines Day Gifts you ultimately go for will depend upon the type of man you’re buying for. After all, just because one type of man particularly likes certain types of Valentines Day Gifts, it doesn’t mean that another will feel the same way about the Valentines Day Gifts you’ve chosen; the dispirited claims that “all men are the same” is simply not true.

If the man in your life is the energetic kind, the best types of Valentines Day Gifts will naturally reflect this vibrancy and energy. This being the case, if your man is the kind of guy who gets a kick out of adrenalin rushes, why not go for high octane Experience Day Valentines Day Gifts? For example, for lovers of fast cars, the Lotus Exige Driving at Silverstone experience day could be a fantastic choice. The Lotus Exige is a beautiful sports car, constructed with the company’s philosophy of creating a racing car that is just as much at home on the road as it is on the racetrack; it’s actually one of the fastest and safest cars legally allowed to be driven around on public roads.

Interestingly, given the media attention on the poor performance of Britain’s car industry, Lotus is not only a successful motor company, but also a British one. Since its creation in 1952, the company has even become involved in Formula One. The company has produced a wide variety of vehicles, and in addition to its own creations, Lotus Engineering – a relative of Lotus Cars – has worked with a number of external partners to create or improve upon a collection of non-Lotus vehicles; examples include the Vauxhall VX220, the Isuzu Piazza and the Dodge EV.

And if your man likes his Valentines Day Gifts with a twist, why not go for the Monster Truck Driving Experience Day? Sporting 66″ tyres, together with a 7.5 litre engine, these monster trucks are as much of a thrill to watch as they are to drive. The day will involve negotiating some pretty tough terrain, and he’ll even get to experience a deliberate sideways roll!

In contrast, if your man is more of a laidback kind of guy, why not look for Valentines Day Gifts that really appeal to his own personal tastes and hobbies? If he’s a fan of desserts, send him to a Chocolate Making Workshop? Held in either Manchester or London, the Chocolate Making Workshop is as much a feast for the senses as it is an ideal Valentines Day Gift. After all, what could be more appealing than being taught how to make delicious chocolate using nothing but the most delicious and freshest of ingredients? And in homage to the saying that if you give a man a fish he’ll eat for a day, but if you teach him to fish he’ll eat for a lifetime, if you give your man Valentines Day Gifts that teach him to make delicious hand-made chocolate, he’ll be able to offer you delicious chocolate-based Valentines Day Gifts until the end of your days.

While many of us have a few preconceived notions about chocolate – such as it being tasty but a little fattening, and present in a countless number of Valentines Day Gifts – there is actually more to chocolate than meets the eye. Interestingly, dark chocolate and cocoa have been linked with offering circulatory benefits, and chocolate is even believed to be an aphrodisiac! That makes chocolate-oriented Valentines Day Gifts an even more enticing option!
